When you grow up on a farm, in a quiet valley, in a small country, in Africa, you wonder what is out there in the rest of the world! (Especially when folk from all over the world come to your little farm and tell you exciting stories of cities and places that you cannot imagine possible).

At a young age I bought a 22 year old backpack (which was older than me), with a heavy metal frame and holes in most corners, and set out to see the world.

This was the start of a lifelong love of travel. While travelling alone, with very little, in countries that spoke foreign languages, I was the recipient of such kindness and trust. People shared friendship and gentleness with me. I will always be in awe of these wonderful people who shaped my life.
